When Bayer divested its seed treatment equipment operations in 2025, the patents, the fabrication equipment, and the people who built the machines came home - to Gustafson Engineered Solutions right here in Minnesota.

Gustafson begins producing its own treatment products and, by the 1980s, becomes the largest producer of seed treatment products in the world.

Bayer AG acquires full ownership
Following a series of joint ventures through the ’80s and ’90s.

Bayer retires the Gustafson name and folds the products into its portfolio.

Bayer divests its seed treatment equipment operations. Gustafson Engineered Solutions LLC is founded in Mazeppa, MN, carrying the batch treating line forward.

The CBT platform combines precise batch control, superior primary application, and flexible automation to deliver consistent treatment without locking you into one control system. Recommended for barley, canola, corn, cotton, soybeans, sugar beets, sunflower, vegetable, and wheat seed, with select specialty food applications available upon request.

Choose a treater solutions partnered automation system or bring your own controls. Around half of CBT systems use customer-specific automation, including controls supplied by us or by the automation provider of the customer’s choice.
Precision from Application to Delivery
Direct liquid application treats each individual seed at the primary application point, while high-performance mixing maintains uniform coverage. Batch integrity allows seed to remain in the chamber until precise delivery targets are achieved.
Designed to Help Clean Itself
Our patented lid design puts the seed to work during every batch, naturally polishing the majority of internal surfaces as it moves through the treater. The result is less buildup and easier cleaning while maintaining a gentle process designed to reduce the risk of seed damage.

A compact stack-on assembly that expands the above-bowl chamber by 20% using WEG motor power — with no significant change to discharge or batch time in testing to date. Removable if you ever need to restore standard capacity.
